A TERMINALLY ill father-of-four in Rhyl whose left side of his body is paralysed is to take on a skydive in aid of a charity supporting those with kidney disease.

Anthony Evanz, 36, suffers from heart and double kidney failure, and has twice been put into a coma.

After recovering from a tracheostomy, he also suffered a seizure.

He was put into a second coma for a month after fracturing his skull in hospital, which he came out if to find he had suffered a stroke and lost the ability to use the left side of his body.

Anthony is to take on the challenge, at Skydive Swansea on Sunday, July 3, to raise funds for Kidney Research UK.

It is one of several activities on his bucket list, which he intends to complete in aid of various other causes, too.

Anthony said: “I came down to visit my mum in Rhyl this time last year. While I was here, I was ill for about three days.

“They rushed me into hospital, at which point they did an operation and put a PICC line in my chest.

“I had to be put into a coma for a week, which I woke up from to find my throat was damaged, so I had to have a tracheostomy. While I was recovering from that, I had a seizure at home.

“I was taken back into hospital, and while I was there, I ended up fracturing my skull, with bleeding on the brain, and I was put into a coma again for a month.

“I came out of the coma to find I’d had a stroke and have lost the ability to use the left hand side of my body.”

Anthony, whose four children range from the ages of six and 12, has had to move in with his mother in Rhyl, who cares for him.

He also suffers from Chron’s disease, an inflammatory bowel illness, and colitis (inflammation of the large intenstine).

Not only does he want to use the rest of his life to help vital causes like Kidney Research UK, but also to make his children proud of him.

He said: “They’ve said to me I’m never going to get better; it’s just about prolonging my life. It’s about quality of life, rather than quantity.

“I feel useless now, so I want to try and make my kids proud and do something with my life.

“That’s why I’ve got this bucket list; I’ve always wanted to do a skydive, and a bungee jump, which I’m going to do, too.

“I want to try and raise money to give back to Kidney Research UK, and to raise awareness, as well.

“I’ve got to pay £200, which I’m going to pay myself, for the skydive, and then I need to try to raise £500 for the charity.

“I also want to help and donate to the dialysis unit at Glan Clwyd hospital in Rhyl, because I go there three times a week, so I want to do something for them, too, if possible.”
