DENBIGHSHIRE Leisure Ltd is lighting attractions to remember those who tragically lost their lives in the Falklands conflict.

Having already lit the Rhyl Sky Tower, Rhyl Pavilion Theatre, 1891 restaurant and bar, the Events Arena waterfall and coastal bus shelters on June 8, the attractions will be lit again tomorrow (June 14) in red, blue and white, to reflect the colours of the British flag and in honour of all those who lost their lives, including members of the Armed Forces from the Denbighshire area.

The conflict, which began on April 2 and ended on June 14 1982, was the first military action since World War II which utilised all elements of the Armed forces, and more than 30,000 sailors, marine, soldiers, airmen and merchant mariners participated.

The ten weeks of the Falklands conflict saw the loss of hundreds of lives on both sides and had political ramifications around the world.

Managing Director of Denbighshire Leisure Ltd Jamie Groves said: “In lighting up the attractions, we would like everyone to join us in paying tribute to those who lost their lives during the Falklands conflict, especially those from the local area.

“Anniversaries such as these are very poignant days for those associated with the Armed Forces, and by lighting up our attractions, we join friends and families in honouring the memories of their loved ones and marking their incredible contribution on behalf of us all.”
