A MAN from Rhyl has been ordered to abstain from consuming alcohol and pay compensation after he was found guilty of possession a knife and causing criminal damage to property in Ruthin.

Neil Whittaker, 48, of East Parade, was accused of possessing a bladed object, and of damaging windows belonging to Andrew Dallolio worth roughly £400, on April 1.

At Llandudno Magistrates’ Court on May 27, Mr Whittaker was ordered to avoid alcohol for 120 days.

He is also to pay £400 in compensation, as well as £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £95 victim surcharge.

This amounted to a total of £580, which he is to pay in weekly instalments of £6 from June 24.

The court also ordered that the knife be forfeited and destroyed, and that he undertake a maximum of 25 days’ rehabilitation activity.

An application was also made by the court for deductions from Mr Whittaker’s benefits.
