REPORTS of violence and sexual offences were the highest reported crime in March on the Isle of Wight, according to the latest police data.

Figures from police.uk show there were a total of 1,045 crimes reported across the county in March.

Violence and sexual offences was the most reported crime - with 499 reports - across the Isle of Wight in March.

This was followed by public order offences which was reported 153 times in the same month.

Across the county the third highest crime was anti-social behaviour which received 114 reports.

Criminal damage and arson (83), shoplifting (32) and drugs (31) all received similar rates of reports throughout March in the Isle of Wight Council area.

The lowest reported crimes were theft from a person (5), vehicle crime (5) and robbery (4).
