THE Disability Resource Centre will be running a free mobility scooter course for people in the Denbighshire coastal area.

The Bodelwyddan-based centre will be hosting the free training exercises at Ffordd Las Community Centre, Rhyl on June 17.

The training will aim to explain the lawful requirements, responsibilities, awareness and manoeuvrability skills to mobility scooter users, and will also cover topics like the highway code, road safety, advice on basic maintenance, advice on buying a used mobility scooter, knowing your way around a mobility scooter and training on how to use your scooter when out and about.

Invaluable tools allowing disabled people to get out and do normal day-to-day activities, mobility scooters can be dangerous if not used correctly.

Every year throughout the UK there are numerous accidents involving mobility scooters injuring and even killing people, with the number of users in Rhyl on the increase every year.
