THE hugely popular Classic Car Show will return to the streets of Prestatyn after a two-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The event is being held at a later date than usual, due to the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations this May Bank Holiday, and will be held on August 29 on the upper part of Prestatyn’s High Street, which will close for the duration.

Despite the Covid-enforced delay, during which time many worried it may never return, there is great anticipation for the event this year.

Organiser Tim Williams said it was a “great feeling” to see a return to normality after the pandemic, and that the change of date would be a welcome late summer boost for the town.

“I’ve had so many people contacting me saying they were missing it and when was it going to be on again.

“[The entry] is great already, we’ve had 250 cars enter already without trying so it’s been a good response.”

The Classic Car Show started in 2000, so it is effectively the Show’s unofficial 20th anniversary this year having been cancelled in both 2020 and 2021 with the pandemic in full swing.

“We started it as a millennium event for the town, and it was that popular that we had to run it again and then it’s just grown and grown,” Tim added.

“It is a great feeling to sort of feel we’re getting back to normal now.”

The organiser anticipates the final entry number to be more than 350 cars, and with showpieces ranging from Ferraris to classic Fords, and Morris Minors to Maseratis, there will be something for everyone.
