TODAY is the beginning of #OpSceptre week, a national campaign aimed at tackling knife crime.

A North Wales Police (NWP) Denbighshire Coastal and Abergele said in a statement: “There is a special amnesty bin located at Rhyl Police Station which gives you the opportunity to safely dispose of any knives and blades.

“Local officers will also being carrying out hotspot patrols and visits will be made to businesses which sell these items.

“If you do not want to attend a Police Station, then there will also be amnesty bins located at Rhyl and Abergele recycling centres.

“If you have concerns about someone you know or care about, who is carrying or hiding a knife call the Police on 101 or CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, or the Fearless campaign website https://orlo.uk/AaQTS.

“Always dial 999 in an emergency.”
