A HIGH school has paid a moving tribute to one of its pupils who died in a horror crash in Flintshire.

Lacie Jade Roberts, from Flint, died when the BMW she was a passenger crashed into a gym at the junction of the A548 and A5026 in Bagillt in the early hours of April 22.

Her father John Daniel Roberts, who was driving, was also killed.

The 13-year-old attended Flint High School.

In a moving statement issued by the school, Clare Millington, acting headteacher said: “Students at Flint High School were told about the tragic death of Lacie Roberts in Year 9.

“We are shocked and deeply saddened with this devastating loss. Words cannot express the grief and hurt that we are feeling and our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Lacie’s family. We cannot even begin to imagine how this is affecting them.

“Lacie was a much-loved and valued member of our community. Her energy, enthusiasm and loyalty to her friends was what made her special. She was a girl with wonderful potential and she will be greatly missed."

She added: “Over the coming weeks, our school community will begin to process this tragedy. We will support each other by providing opportunities for our learners to talk, to express their grief and to share their memories of Lacie.

"This will be a difficult time for everybody as we try to comprehend how such a promising young student has been taken away from us in such a tragic way. We will all miss Lacie.

“Thank you to those who have already reached out to our community to offer support it has been very much appreciated.”
