A PILOT employment project is being run in Denbighshire to help build job skills.

“Project Ready” is being delivered by Denbighshire County Council through its Working Denbighshire team.

The pilot is funded by the UK Community Renewal Fund and will support people aged 16 to 35 finding it difficult to find employment due to low confidence, mental health issues or disabilities.

Liz Grieve, the council’s head of communities and customers service, said: “We are pleased to be running this pilot in Denbighshire which will provide help to a wide range of people across the county who are looking for help to find employment.

“This project will help build life skills, confidence and social skills, helping residents who are experiencing anxiety and mental health issues.

“The aim of the project is to provide the correct support to address barriers to employment, raise aspiration, increase motivation and see participants move on to education and training as well as actively engaging in job-searching.”

Project Ready will see a range of help provided including one to one specialist advice and support, work related education, personal and social skills training, basic skills and group activities.

As part of the project, Citizens Advice Denbighshire will be working with each of the participants to advise them about benefits, how they can be better off in work and other financial matters.

Project Ready is one of a number of Working Denbighshire schemes helping to tackle poverty with coordinated support that helps people into work by removing barriers to employment.
