ST ASAPH FC Under-7s have been finishing the football season on a high ahead of their final tournaments.

Due to their age group, the team are not part of a league yet, but have competed in tournaments and competitive friendlies as they prepare for the summer, and the start of the new season.

Their run of form has spanned a few tournaments, with their rich vein of form well-timed ahead of the prestigious SCI Prestatyn Mitre Ultimatch Cup, a football tournament that invites teams from around the British Isles to compete, which will be held from June 2-5.

Soon after, they will be playing in the Junior Grassroots Tournament in Buckley, which will be held from June 17-19 at Buckley Town Football Club.

With wins over Rhyl, Prestatyn and Denbigh this season, the future of football in St Asaph seems bright.

Morgan Roberts, St Asaph FC Juniors manager, recapped on the progress the team had made this season: “We’ve only lost four games this season which is really good, and we went on a bit of a run from October to December, January time where we were unbeaten.

“Because we’re training a lot more, we’re starting to string performances together which is great to see, and it’s great to see their development as well, as a coach, and inspire them to keep playing football.

“Even though after the pandemic it’s been tough, we’ve managed to keep our team together and win matches.”

Winning matches is exactly what the Juniors will hope to keep doing, as they prepare for a busy tournament schedule across May and June.
