Step back in time with a stay at Berwyn Stationmaster’s House with the Llangollen Railway.

The Grade II listed building is located right on the platform of a working railway station at Berwyn Station, situated on a ledge above the gorge of the River Dee.

The house is a mock-Tudor part of the station building, which is where Berwyn’s station master and his family would have lived.

Between 1865 and the mid-1950s, the station master was the key authority figure at the station. He was a well-respected figure with significant social standing in the local community.

His role would have included selling tickets, handling parcels, tending to the station’s coal fires, and making sure all passengers were safe.  In his spare time, the station master also looked after the station’s floral and vegetable gardens.

As a guest, you will get to enjoy the house without any of the responsibilities of the stationmaster!

The house was recently renovated by Llangollen Railway volunteers and is all ready to give people a truly memorable holiday.

It sleeps six people, with three bedrooms and car parking on site.

On the ground floor is the kitchen and dining room, a twin bedroom, and a bathroom.

The first floor houses the lounge which has a bay window offering stunning views over the railway line and River Dee, along with a cosy electric log burner. There is also another twin bedroom and a shower room.

On the second floor, the master bedroom can be found, which has a double bed and ensuite toilet with a wash hand basin.

This unique holiday let provides a stunning view of the River Dee and the Llangollen Heritage Steam Railway.

The trains come and go throughout the day, but the house is quiet in the evening when the trains stop running.

Visitors can enjoy unlimited day travel on trains which provide an amazing view of Dee Valley between Corwen and Llangollen. The station itself is conveniently situated near the A5 and within easy driving distance of Llangollen.

There are some wonderful walks you can do from the doorstep along the Dee Valley Way – either to Corwen or along the canal into Llangollen (around 2 miles or so).

The famous Chainbridge Hotel is straight across the valley and can be reached via the Chain Bridge across the River Dee.

On your way to the Chain Bridge, you pass under the railway and can marvel at the surviving first world war soldier’s graffiti, written in pencil on the tiles under the bridge.
