A LUXURY lodge development in Denbighshire has secured funding from the Development Bank of Wales.

The multi-million-pound development sees the 15-acre site that was once the Bryn Morfydd Hotel and Gatehouse Park in Llanrhaeadr, near Denbigh, which was closed in 2009 and subsequently fell into disrepair.

The site will now be redeveloped into 68 luxury lodges by Prestatyn-based Hughes Holiday Homes (HHH) Park No 1 Limited, with support from the Wales Business Fund via a £2.2million loan.

The agreement was reached with the assistance of Lanyon Bowdler, a North Wales law firm, who acted on behalf of HHH Park No. 1 Limited.

James Guile of Hugh James acted on behalf of the Development Bank of Wales.

With more than 25 years' experience of working in the holiday park sector as owner of Hughes Holiday Homes Limited, Jamie Hughes also has the support of co-director and investor Andrew Williams-Owen and Cheshire leisure construction specialist Peter Harding & Co Limited, who do all the infrastructure work.

Jamie Hughes said: "North Wales is home to some of the most unique and high value gatehouse parks in the UK but demand continues to outstain supply.

“Staying in this country on holiday and working from home contributes to this as people look for a different lifestyle.

"With the support of the Development Bank, the acquisition and development of Bryn Morfydd gives us the opportunity to bring this prominent site back to its former glory and eventually there will be 89 luxury lodges and a 39-bedroom hotel.

“It will truly become a safe and beautiful haven for those looking for luxury who live in an area of outstanding natural beauty."

Scott Hughes of the Development Bank of Wales said: "Jamie has an excellent track record and knows the market as the back of his hand.

“He has the support of a highly experienced team who share his passion for developing five-star luxury lodge parks.

“Our investment will be a welcome boost to the local economy with the redevelopment of the derelict site as well as creating more high-quality holiday lets and jobs for local people."

Ed Nutting of Lanyon Bowdler Solicitors said: "Tourism has already played a vital role in the North Wales economy, so the regeneration of this site is an excellent boost for the whole area.

“We were delighted to be able to help with the legal issues that needed to be completed before HHH Park No 1 Limited was able to purchase the site, and we wish them every success for the future."

The £204 million Wales Business Fund is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Welsh Government.
