AS PART of the St David’s Day celebrations and in partnership with Denbighshire’s Menter Iaith Sir Ddinbych, High Street businesses in Prestatyn were encouraged to decorate their shop windows with a St David’s Day and Welsh theme.

The mayor of Prestatyn and Meliden, Councillor Sharon Frobisher and her consort, Harriet Frobisher, together with Prestatyn Carnival Queen Alyssa Dean, walked down then up the High Street, judging all of the St David’s Day-themed shop windows on Saturday (February 26).

The judges were looking for: the use of the Welsh Language, a reference to St David’s Day, Welsh culture and creativity.

The prizes for the finalists were sponsored by Prestatyn and Meliden Town Council.

First prize was provided by “The Little Cheesemonger”, second by “Blooming Gorgeous”, and third by “Tudor House”.

A total of 22 shops were judged, with “The Sewing Room” taking first prize, “The Twisted Tree” in second place, and “Play Party Create” third.

The Mayor thanked everyone who took part in the day, and especially all of those who were involved in organising the events.
