PLANS for a new drive-through McDonalds restaurant in Rhyl to be open 24 hours a day have been dropped.

Following an objection from the town council, the company has now lodged a fresh application, reducing the opening hours to 6am – 11pm.

Work on the site of the former Crown Bard public house in Rhuddlan Road is already well underway.

In a supporting letter, Sarah Carpenter, of agents Planware Ltd, said there is still a possibility that 24-hour opening will be sought in the future.

She said: “Whilst the noise report has demonstrated that the mitigation on-site will not impact on residential amenity and 24 hours would be acceptable, we understand the sensitivities of this store and will review the situation when trading commences to ascertain hours at a later date.”
