I feel very privileged to be the Headteacher of Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan. I passionately believe in everything that the school has to offer to your children and have an experienced and caring team of staff and Governors who are equally as dedicated to wanting the very best for each learner, individually and academically.

At Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan, every learner matters to us. Our relentless aim is that everyone achieves their potential. We recognise that each learner has talent and ability and we strive to ensure that everyone can achieve their personal best. As well as developing learners' skills as ambitious, resilient and capable learners in the classroom, we focus on helping our learners to celebrate their individuality. We support our learners to set challenging goals, to dream big and dare to achieve. We nurture learners to develop their skills and talents and to grow as a citizen, equipping them for their next steps beyond school.

The school has a long history of success and our popular and high-performing  Sixth Form offers learners the ability to follow A Level and Vocational  qualifications in a supportive school-based environment. Our strong and  established transition links with primary schools support learners to achieve as they move into the secondary phase of their school journey. We pride ourselves on being a compassionate and caring school with first-rate support systems. We are proud of our excellent facilities, well-resourced learning environment and high-quality learning and teaching.

Rhyl Journal:

At the heart of achievement is academic support for all. More Able and Talented learners are supported to thrive and excel in subject areas and through a school-wide programme which builds on the opportunities offered to learners through the national SEREN programme. Our Additional Learning Needs and Inclusion teams offer creative and personalised support for learners to access the curriculum and opportunities that the school has to offer to the full.

Learning at Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan is a fundamental part of the school's culture and opportunities go way beyond the classroom. The school offers a wealth of extra-curricular opportunities through the Engage@Emrys programme, sport, music, drama, school productions and many other enriching opportunities on offer.

I became headteacher in September 2020 but have worked at the school for a long time, previously as deputy head. My own children have attended the school which demonstrates my passion and belief in what the school has to offer to your child. If you want your child to be given the opportunity to achieve their full potential, then please come and see how we do this through a strong partnership of working together at Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan.
