A PAIR of bowling clubs in Rhyl have received generous donations from Arbed Am Byth.

Delivering the Welsh Government’s Warm Homes Arbed 3 scheme, Arbed Am Byth arranges the installation of energy-efficiency measures, as part of area-based schemes that regenerate communities and eradicate fuel poverty.

The group pledged cheques of £1,000 and £250 to East Parade Bowling Club and Grove Park Bowling Club respectively.

Councillor Barry Mellor (Rhyl East, Labour) was on hand to present both clubs with their cheques on Monday, February 14.

He said: “As county councillor for the East ward of Rhyl, I was happy to present a cheque for £1,000 to the East Parade Bowles Club.

“Many members turned up as I presented the cheque to them; they say it came just at the right time as they need a new expensive lawn mower.

“I also presented a cheque of £250 to the Grove Park Bowles Club.

“They were looking for the money to pay for planning permission to turn a small field adjacent to the club into a car park to help the local area, taking cars off the street when visiting clubs visit.

“The money has come from Arbed Am Byth, who has been bringing houses in the East ward of Rhyl up to heating standards. I would like to thank them for their generosity.”
