KINMEL Bay’s new management team feel to defeat in their second game in charge as visitors Mochdre returned home on Saturday (January 15) with a 5-1 victory.

Things didn't get off to a great start for Kinmel Bay, with three players pulling out on the morning of the match with COVID-19, leaving them with a last-minute scramble for players.

The Bay decided to try a different formation and line-up; again, a lot of the youth players had been brought into the squad along with some of the more experienced players.

And a nervous Bay fell behind early on, as they tried to play football but were simply outrun in the midfield.

The team found the new formation difficult and hard to get to grips with, and before they knew it, they we were 3-0 to Mochdre, who were playing brilliant football and worked Bay really hard.

Bay made a couple of substitutions at the start of the second half due to injuries, and also changed formation, and things started to improve they found ourselves having more time and creating more chances, but the Mochdre defence and goalkeeper stood strong.

That was until the Mochdre keeper was adjudged to have brought Baz Roche down on the area, and up stepped new signing Ethan Evans to convert from the spot to make it 3-1.

Try as they might, Bay just couldn't find a way through the Mochdre defence as they tired, and Mochdre pushed on more and were rewarded with a further two goals.

New Bay manager Alex Craig said: “On the day and on reflection, we weren't good enough, not physical enough and lacking a few key players.

“But this is all things that can be worked on in training and we will continue to train, play and improve, and build a club for the future.

“Kinmel Bay Football Club feels united and the atmosphere around the club is exciting at the moment, with lots of plans and improvements in the pipeline, and we are all looking forward to the next 12 to 18 months.”
