An investigation is underway following the fire at a recycling unit on the Dee Bank Industrial Estate.

Emergency services were called to the recycling unit in Bagillt shortly before 5pm on December 31, the A548 was been closed as a result.

Firefighters from across North Wales continued to tackle the blaze until around 10.20pm, but remained at the scene into the early hours.

North Wales Police's Flintshire team have now confirmed that an investigation is underway and they are appealing for witnesses.

An NWP spokesperson said:

"A joint investigation between ourselves and the North wales fire service is underway following a fire at a recycling unit on the Dee Bank Industrial Estate in Bagillt at approximately 5pm yesterday (31/12/21). "

"We are appealing for any witnesses or anybody who may have information relating to the fire to contact us. We are also keen to speak to anybody who may have been in the area shortly before 5pm and who may have dash cam footage to please get in touch. "
