A PEDESTRIAN has been seriously injured following a crash on the A55 near Abergele during the early hours of this morning (Thursday).

Shortly before 1am, officers received a report that a man had been struck by a vehicle on the westbound carriageway.

The emergency services attended and the pedestrian was initially taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in Bodelwyddan but has since been transferred to hospital in Stoke with life threatening injuries.

Sergeant Medwyn Williams of the Roads Policing Unit is appealing for witnesses.

He said: “We are urging anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have seen a pedestrian near to the A55 in Pensarn during the early hours to contact us.

“Anybody who was travelling in the area just after midnight and who may have dashcam footage is also urged to make contact.

“The road was re-opened shortly after 6am and we’d like to thank everyone for their patience.”
