THE panto run at Venue Cymru will now end early following new Welsh Government restrictions.

Aladdin started its run at the Llandudno theatre on December 11.

It was set to end on January 2 but will now finish on Friday, December 24 (Christmas Eve).

In a statement, Venue Cymru and Imagine Theatre said: "After discussions with our pantomime co-producers Imagine Theatre, regarding the new Covid restrictions which come into effect from December 26 (Boxing Day), we have made the difficult decision to cancel all performances of Aladdin from the December 26 - January 2.

"We understand that this will be hugely disappointing to our ticket holders and hope you understand that the health and well-being of our audience, cast and staff is our top priority.

"Anyone who has booked to attend performances on these dates will be contacted directly regarding their booking.

"We ask that you don't contact us directly at this time so that we can get information to those customers as quickly as possible.

"Thank you for your understanding and we wish all our customers a happy and safe Christmas and New Year."

From Boxing Day, the alert level two measures in Wales will mean:

  • A general requirement of two-metre social distancing in all premises open to the public and workplaces, where reasonable.
  • The rule of six will apply to gatherings in regulated premises, such as hospitality, cinemas and theatres.
  • All licensed premises will need to take additional measures to protect customers and staff, including table service and collecting contact details.
  • Face coverings will be required in hospitality settings at all times apart from when seated.
  • Large events will not be allowed indoors or outdoors. The maximum number of people who can gather at an indoor event will be 30 and 50 outdoors.
  • There will be an exception for team sports, up to 50 spectators will be able to gather, in addition to those taking part. There is also an exception for events involving children.
