GENEROUS shoppers at Tesco’s Abergele store have proved that every little really does help, by raising £1,000 for the RNLI.
After the pandemic lockdown, the store’s community champion, Jan Williams, organised a bookstall at the store, enabling customers to donate their used books and buy others. The exercise was a tremendous success, enabling the store to donate £1,000 to the RNLI.
Earlier this month, Jan and store manager Matt Williams presented a cheque for £1,000 to Sara Jones, president of the Colwyn Bay branch of the RNLI and wife of Clwyd West MP, David Jones.
Sara said: “This was a brilliant exercise by Jan and her team and a tribute to the generosity of Tesco’s Abergele shoppers.
“The RNLI is a vital emergency service, but is totally funded by charitable donations.
"The £1,000 will be used to help support the local lifeboat, based at Llandudno and enable the RNLI to carry on its important work of saving lives at sea.”
