A SPECIAL fundraising day at Rhuddlan Golf Club held recently in aid of a hospice in St Asaph raised a record-high amount in donations.

The club welcomed 160 players on Friday, October 1, raising an impressive £13,035 for St Kentigern Hospice, a charity providing care and support for patients with any life-limiting condition and their families.

The all-day event also included an auction and raffle for participants to enter into.

A cheque for the entire amount raised was then presented at the club by members to community and events fundraiser Wendy Clark and St Kentigern chief executive Iain Mitchell on Wednesday, October 13.

Laura Ellis-Bartlett, fundraising manager at St Kentigern, said: “The Rhuddlan Golf Day is an exciting part of the hospice’s fundraising calendar and we were thrilled that the event was able to go ahead this year.

“A great time was had by all who attended, and a fantastic amount was raised to support the work of the hospice.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended the event, and to all of the local businesses who donated auction prizes and sponsored the event.

“A special thank you goes to the golf club for having us on the day, and to Steve Pender and Mike Rowley for (their) hard work in arranging the event.”
