A BUSINESS owner has shared her story of traumatic miscarriages in the hope of helping other women who have experienced tragic loss.

Lisa Williams, 35, from Rhyl shares her story ‘How I felt worthless as a woman’ in the bestselling book SEEN, in which she gives an account of her story on multiple miscarriages and their detrimental effect on her well-being.

"I had to pick myself up out of the darkness, I physically hated myself and my body for failing me," she said.

"I hope my story helps others see that there is a light at the end of the darkness.

"We all have the ability to be enough, no matter what our pain you can achieve your desires."

The book, published on World Mental Health Day on October 10, illustrates how 15 female businesswomen found the courage to come face to face with conditions including abuse, leukaemia, alcoholism and anxiety to rediscover their purpose.

It was hosted by Katherine Massey, from Connah’s Quay, with all proceeds going to the charity Milestone Mums, which supports mums with mental health issues.

According to Tommy's, one in 100 women suffer recurrent miscarriages and one in four women suffer from baby loss.

Miscarriage can be a highly traumatic experience that leads to mental health problems such as anxiety, stress, depression, and post-traumatic stress.

Lisa said that by speaking about her experience she hopes to help others to understand their own experience, and she is taking part in miscarriage awareness events and fundraising.

She has also urged people to light a candle on October 15 at 7 pm to join in the national ‘Wave of Light’ campaign to raise awareness for Baby Loss Awareness Week.

"Writing your story can be hard and [the co-authors] have all done a fantastic job," added Lisa.

“I am leaving my words as a legacy for my girls to show them how far their mummy has come,” she added.

"I want other women to read my story and see there is a light at the end, and you can love yourself again after losing a child."
