A TEENAGER from Prestatyn took part in the first ever Children's General Assembly held in Billund, Denmark.

The goal of the Children's Assembly is to present the UN with a united voice from children around the world.

A total of 80 children were selected from all over the world to take part in online workshops to discuss global issues; the workshops were held over the last seven months. Daniel Jones, 15, was selected to be a group representative (Daniel was one of 10 children chosen) and was invited to Denmark, to the Lego House, to deliver a speech.

Daniel's group subject was peace, stability and safety in the world.

The group speeches formed the joint manifesto which was then handed over to the leaders of the world.

Mum Sian said: "Daniel was pleased to be chosen as it was a chance to meet and work with other young people from around the world, to do something positive and tell the people who have the power, our views, as we will be the future caretakers of the world.

"The speeches and handing over of the manifesto were all live-streamed from the Lego House. We thought the assembly would happen online but all restrictions in Denmark were lifted, so most of the representatives were able to attend in person from all over the world: New Zealand, Africa, Central America, Canada, India etc and of course Wales."

Daniel travelled to Denmark with his parents.

Although restrictions were lifted, Daniel and his parents got tested everyday.

Sian added: "Whilst staying in Denmark, Daniel and the other representatives got to visit the mayor and learn about Danish democracy, meet Mogens Lykketoft, the former head of the UN General Assembly, as well as taking part in some fun local activities and a visit to the Lego factory.
