A CHANGING facility at a football pitch in Rhyl was set on fire.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the incident took place on Rhydwen Drive on Sunday night.

Two crews were called to the fire, which is believed to be an arson attempt.

The fire service said the incident put “tremendous pressure” on its crews as they tackled a hotel fire in Prestatyn at the same time.

"We attended a deliberate fire at a football ground on Rhydwen Drive, Rhyl last night - two appliances attended, while another two were in attendance at the same time at a fire at a hotel in Prestatyn," a fire service spokesperson said.

"Deliberate fires place tremendous pressure on resources, with our crews tied up for a considerable length of time trying to bring them under control which prevents them from attending life threatening incidents.
