RHYL & District RFC were again soundly beaten by a well-drilled Wrexham team.
The game followed the same pattern as last week, with Rhyl fielding a young side due to injury, and both teams pushed for possession and territory from the off. However, once Wrexham crossed for their first try, the game became one-sided at Tynewydd Field.
Rhyl were not helped with the red card given to scrum half Simon Cheetham for dangerous infringement in a ruck.
A man down, Rhyl could not stop Wrexham from creating space for overlaps, which the away side took advantage of throughout the first half, going into the break 30 points ahead.
A similar pattern emerged in the second half, with Wrexham adding a further 29 points.
Rhyl did score a try when winger Reeve Wright forced his way through from ten metres, with the final score of 5-59.
Rhyl’s young side have a way to go but, once players return from injury and some others become available, progress in building a team for the future will continue.
Rhyl's second team were also playing at home against Colwyn Bay 2nds: in a close game Rhyl came out victors 16-15.
Both sides gave 100 per cent in this first meeting of the teams this year with a promising display by some youngsters.
