THE return of the Nova Parkrun on Saturday was welcomed by local runners - and by two young members of Prestatyn Running Club in particular.

Alex Ryder, one of several members in fine form at the moment, finished second overall, while 16-year-old Rowan Graham-Jones was the second lady.

Martin Cortvriend, Julia Evans and Steve Hatfield all won their age categories.

Three supervets were the club's only representatives in last week's Ruthin 5k, and though he is just short of his 70th birthday Martin Cortvriend won the over-60 class. He finished about two minutes clear of George Nixon, and the pair were separated by former member Neil Halliday, who is in the same category and who is home for a short time in St Asaph.

Four members took on the much tougher challenge of the Gladstone 9 fell-race near Penmaenmawr, and the warm weather made it even more testing.
