THE Little Flowermonger have been celebrating their BFA Industry Award for Retail Florist Shop of the Year nomination.

Jacqui Bell, owner of The Little Flowermonger, on Rhuddlan High Street, said: "We are delighted to be nominated in the British Florist Association (BFA) 2021 Retail Florist Shop of the Year Industry Awards.

"We intend to use this exciting opportunity to further introduce people to our business and raise the profile of the professional florist.

"I’m the only florist in Wales to have got this far."

The Little Flowermonger opened in October 2019.

The shop’s ethos is based around eco-friendliness and sustainability.

Jacqui, who had a shop in London called Flowermongers, has been in the floristry industry for 25 years.

The nomination was successful after The Little Flowermonger completed a questionnaire. The business will have to complete other criteria in the next few months. The voting from colleagues, trade and customers plays a crucial part in this Retail Florist shop award where the finalists will be announced at a Gala dinner on the October 30.

Tracy Tomlinson, association manager of the British Florist Association, said: "Professional Florist businesses throughout the country are experts that create beautiful floral designs that convey emotions quite unlike any other product does. When consumers see the diversity and value on offer, we hope it will make them more inclined to use local florist shops and studios. These Industry Awards remind us of what fantastic florists we have in the UK.”

"We‘re delighted to be able to offer the awards to the florist Industry.

"In last few months UK Florists have been under pressure from the pandemic, price increases in wholesale cost of flowers and plants, and competition from large online retailers. Florists are an essential part of high streets and communities all over the UK and provide over 35,000 jobs to the local economy. We wish all our nominated florists for this award all the best of luck.”
