THE venue of last year’s series of ‘I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!’ welcomed back two of the 2020 contestants, BBC Radio 1’s Jordan North and TV presenter Vernon Kay, last week.

The pair, who finished second and third respectively in the 20th UK edition of the show, returned to Gwrych Castle in Abergele on Wednesday, July 21 along with Jordan’s fellow Radio 1 DJ, Greg James.

As part of Radio 1’s UK-wide Summer Breakout, Greg was locked in a campervan and needed to work out passwords with the help of listeners and friends to help him escape in various locations, with Vernon sent on a hunt for clues across the site before later given a riddle to solve.

The castle shared a live video on their Facebook page of Jordan and Vernon back at the site, as well as series of photos, saying: “Behind the scenes from Jordan North & Vernon Kay’s return to Gwrych Castle, this time during a heatwave. They also revisited some of the key locations as seen on I’m A Celebrity!”

Usually filmed near New South Wales in Australia, the 2020 UK version of ‘I'm a Celebrity’ was based at the North Wales castle, whose history dates back to the early 1800s, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Jordan and Vernon both lost out in December’s final when author, presenter and blogger Giovanna Fletcher was crowned Queen of the Castle.

The show is set to return to Australia this winter for its 21st series.
