HSBC in Prestatyn has closed its doors for good.

HSBC, on High Street, shut to customers on July 23.

A spokesperson for the The National Federation of SubPostmasters said: "This [the closure] will doubtless be disappointing to HSBC’s customers in Prestatyn. However, alternative banking provision is available to local residents at post office branches nearby."

The nearest post offices to the closing HSBC bank, Prestatyn branch are: Prestatyn PO, 26 High Street; Meliden Road PO, 40-42 Meliden Road and Victoria Road PO, 287 Victoria Road.

The spokesperson added: "Each of these branches offers banking services - including deposits, free cash withdrawals and balance checks, as well as offering face-to-face access to government services, bill payment, foreign currency, travel insurance and, of course, postal services.

"Post offices are proving vital to retaining people’s and business’s access to cash as the banks continue to desert the high street in order to cut costs and increase their profits."

The bank is listed on Google as 'permanently closed'.

The Journal reported in January that Prestatyn HSBC is among 82 branches to permanently shut this year. HSBC it closing down the premises as part of plans to prioritise digital services.

The closure is another blow for the High Street after the closure of TSB. Santander and Yorkshire Building Society closed in 2017. Barclays has also closed.

Principality Building Society is now the only in-store banking service available in the town.
