GREEN-fingered primary school pupils at Ysgol Y Foryd have created a vegetable garden.

Little ones in year two at the Kinmel Bay school were given a project to complete together.

The garden area at the front of the school was in need of a revamp.

Carmel Patterson, year two teaching assistant, said: "Due to Covid-19, coming back to school has been a challenge for most children. At Ysgol Y Foryd we have put the health and well-being as a priority for all children.

"We wanted to give year 2 a project to complete together which would also be a continuous project for upcoming pupils and the school eco council and school council decided the garden will be the year two project.

"They worked together with the head teacher Nicola Rowlands and eco leader Mark Patterson to put a plan in place of equipment and resources needed.

"We also had a year two competition to name the garden which was judged and chosen by The Positivity Queen Keeley Roberts.

"The lucky winner was Sienna Alcock who named the garden Bumble Bee garden."

The garden is used for outdoor learning, science, nature watching, bird watching and also for relaxation.

Ms Patterson added: "The children really enjoy working in the vegetable garden. We have also had a new bird table kindly donated by Mr Rowley as our other one broke during the high winds.

"We are so proud of what the children have achieved."
