A UNIQUE event which will see golfers play in the dark with LED night balls will raise funds for St Kentigern.

The event will take place on Friday, June 25 at North Wales Golf Course and Driving Range, Llannerch Park, Trefnant.

Fundraisers are expecting about 100 people to take part.

As well as LED golf balls, fairways, tees and greens will all lit up. Guests can also enjoy food and the bar.

Steve Mueller, owner at North Wales Golf Range who has been playing on and off for about 25 years, said: "Although the driving range has been open until 9pm in the evening for the last 30 years or so, having the course open when it's dark is completely new ground, and we're excited to see how people react to it.

"Anyone is welcome to come along for the food and drink in sale, which is all being sold to raise money for St.Kentigern hospice.

"The hospice is only a couple of miles down the road from us in St Asaph and we have been supporting them for many years now, by raising money in various ways.

"The idea for this event has been in the pipeline for a few years now, but it had always been something we planned to do when the winter nights were closing in, as it gave us more darkness to work with. But we decided that the weather and general conditions were much more preferable at this time of year, even though proceedings needed to start a little later.

"Between ourselves and St Kentigern, we have also organised a raffle where there are some great prizes on offer, including a 12 month membership at a local 18-hole course. So there is an opportunity for people to donate some money and support this great cause, even they are unable to attend the evening."
