POLICE patrols were stepped up following reports of a serious assault in Pensarn.

The incident happened on Friday, June 11.

The people involved were known to each other and a man received medical treatment.

Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

Chief Inspector Owain Llewellyn said: “I appreciate that the large police presence in the Pensarn area on Friday may have caused concern in the local community. I am grateful to the public for their patience whilst the incident was ongoing and apologise for any disruption caused.

“Our inquiries are ongoing and there are no further risks to the wider community."

There was an increased police presence overnight [from Friday on to Saturday] for reassurance purposes.

Eye-witnesses reported seeing armed police on June 11. Traffic was also affected.
