YOUNGSTERS at Ysgol Melyd in Meliden have been learning about chocolate.

As well as enjoying the story Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, staff dressed up and put on a party for children in year three .

Bernadette Williams, teaching assistant, said: "Each child was sent a golden ticket through the post to their home address. On the back of the ticket was an invitation to a party in our class.

"The children played party games in the morning and watched the original Charlie and The Chocolate Factory Film in the afternoon after their party food whilst drinking hot chocolate.

"Each child was presented with a 'Wonka Bar' on the way out. Two of the bars were 'special' ones: one was white chocolate, the other was half milk chocolate and half strawberry.

"The children who discovered these special bars won a prize the next day in class," she added.

"The children have learned about the history of the cocoa bean, the Aztecs and Cadbury’s.

"They have also conducted science experiments with chocolate."
