A CYCLIST was airlifted to hospital after a collision with a van in Ruthin.
Emergency services were called to The Park area of the town on Monday evening following the collision.
The cyclist was flown to the Royal Stoke University Hospital - which contains a major trauma centre - for treatment, police said.
A North Wales Police spokesman said: "We were called at 5.20pm yesterday by colleagues at Welsh Ambulance to reports of an RTC [road traffic collision] involving a VW Caddy and a cyclist.
"Officers attended alongside Helimed, and the cyclist was airlifted to Stoke.
"The road was closed for some time whilst emergency services dealt with the incident."
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called on Monday, June 7, at approximately 5.08pm to reports of a collision between a push bike and a vehicle in Ruthin.
"We responded with one emergency ambulance and our crew received the support of the Wales Air Ambulance.
"One patient was transported by air ambulance to the Royal Stoke Hospital.”
