A PRESTATYN father-of-three has achieved a dramatic improvement in his overall health after starring in a television series.

Siôn Huw Davies was among five leaders taking part in S4C’s health transformation series FFIT Cymru.

Over the last seven weeks, the five leaders followed bespoke food and fitness plans, with support from the three series experts, dietician Sioned Quirke, personal trainer Rae Carpenter and psychologist Dr Ioan Rees.

As the series reached its conclusion last month, results from medical tests showed a significant improvement, while all five also achieved a weight loss of over nine stone during the course of the series.

Father-of-three Siôn, who is head of Welsh at Ysgol Gatholig Sant Richard Gwyn, in Flint, has seen his blood pressure levels drop from a very high level down to a normal reading, in just seven weeks.

He also lost two stone and two pounds in weight during the same period, and completed the FFIT Cymru 5K Challenge in the penultimate episode of the series.

He said: "For the first time in a long time, I’m enjoying being Siôn Huw.

"I feel so much more valuable to my family now. Because of FFIT Cymru, I hope I can be a father for a lot longer now.

"Every time I look in the mirror, I see a bit more of my father coming back, and that is very special to me."

Dr Ioan Rees told Siôn in the series finale: "It’s clear you have become stronger physically, but you have also become stronger mentally. Above all, you have more self-respect, and I can announce that you are a ledge."

Series four of FFIT Cymru came to an end last week and all five leaders – including three from Gwynedd and Siôn from Prestatyn – lost a significant amount of weight and dramatically improved their health in just seven weeks.

The entire series of FFIT Cymru is available to watch on demand on S4C Clic.

To see how the leaders’ transformation continues, tune into the catch-up programme, FFIT Cymru: Chwe Mis Wedyn (FFIT Cymru: Six Months Later), on S4C in December.
