WALKERS and cyclists are being urged to have their say over plans to improve travel routes across Denbighshire.

Denbighshire County Council is carrying out the second phase of its consultation as part of Welsh Government’s Active Travel Network plans to upgrade and build routes over the next 15 years.

The towns selected by the Welsh Government include Rhyl, Prestatyn, Meliden, Dyserth, Rhuddlan, Bodelwyddan, St Asaph, Denbigh, Ruthin, Corwen and Llangollen.

A total of 375 people responded to the first phase making 456 comments, which will be used to inform draft plans.

“We are now asking if the proposed walking and cycling routes will help you get around your local area more as a pedestrian and a cyclist, and if not what other improvements are needed,” a council spokesperson said.

The Active Travel (Wales) Act requires local authorities in Wales to involve residents in updates to their travel network plans every three years. It has the stated aim of increasing the number of opportunities to make essential and non-essential journeys by walking and cycling.

The second phase of the consultation takes place online for three weeks until June 13.
