PRESTATYN Town FC has launched a fan committee to engage with supporters over how the club is run.

Prestatyn Town Fans will hold monthly meetings where members will be able to raise issues with senior staff including chairman Jamie Welsh, manager Ben Heath, general manager Andrew Ruscoe and academy operations manager Ryan Turner.

It is being led by three volunteers Tom Butterworth, chairperson, Tom Gordon and Mikey Mcclelland with meetings expected to take place once coronavirus restrictions are eased.

The Seasiders hope the committee will improve its relationship with fans by increasing transparency over decisions and aligning itself with the consensus opinion among its membership holders and supporters.

Mr Welsh said: “We feel this is a massive step forward for the club. We always knew we had a great group of fans but lately we have been blown away by the fan participation in helping us around the ground and in the community.

“The three committee members chosen have been a massive part in this over the period of time I have been at the club and I’m delighted that they have accepted the offer to be the first committee members.

“I would like to go on record as well to say that I did contact the recently formed supporters trust to offer them a seat on the committee but as of yet they have not nominated an official board so were unable to accept the offer.

“This is something that we hope can be reviewed in the future as we look to add committee members going forward to form stronger links with our fans in helping in the running and transparency of the football club.”
