RHYL promenade was illuminated yellow in support of the RNLI over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Landmarks including the Sky Tower, Rhyl Pavilion and SC2 were lit up yellow to raise awareness of the lifesaving charity’s Mayday Mile 2021. Denbighshire County Council staged the event with Rhyl RNLI.

The Mayday campaign aims to keep RNLI volunteers fully kitted and trained to deal with emergencies by urging members of the public to carry out their own fundraiser by covering a one-mile distance in a way that is challenging or fun – be it hopping, in flip flops or by walking backwards.

As part of the campaign, RNLI volunteers at Rhyl Lifeboat Station plan to run two miles of the promenade in full kit.

Rhyl RNLI said: "Thank you to Denbighshire County Council & Denbighshire Leisure Ltd for lighting Rhyl promenade yellow this weekend to support the RNLI #MayDay campaign.

"The Sky Tower, Pavilion Theatre and shelters along the promenade looked great!"
