JUST 23 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in North Wales.

Public Health Wales figures released on Monday (April 19) show that four new cases have been confirmed in Flintshire, three in Wrexham, two in Dembighshire, 10 in Gwynedd and four on Anglesey.

Conwy has reported no new cases.

Sadly, a further two new deaths of people who had tested positive for coronavirus in the last 28 days have been confirmed.

This takes Wales' total number of suspected coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic to 5,540.

Over 600,000 of Wales 3.1 million population have now received both doses of the coronavirus vaccine, while nearly 1.7 million have had at least one dose.

Dr Giri Shankar, incident director for the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak response at Public Health Wales, said: “Following the changes made to the way we publish coronavirus information on our website and data dashboard, the data reported today, Monday 19 April, is for a 48 hour period up to 9am yesterday (Sunday).

“Therefore, the figures reported today are around double the usual 24 hours figure.

“We would like to remind the public that coronavirus is still circulating in our communities and a large number of people have not been fully vaccinated.

"It is therefore vital that people observe social distancing, where face coverings when in indoor spaces, and wash hands regularly. These actions will help to prevent transmission of the virus."
