A LOCAL post office is open for an extra 35 hours a week under new ownership.
Llangernyw Post Office, based in the Village Shop, re-opened last week under new management with much longer opening hours.
The post office had been run on a temporary mobile basis by the postmaster for Maesgeirchen.after the resignation of the previous postmaster in November.
It then ran on a temporary outreach service, provided by the Postmaster for Betws Yn Rhos Post, to offer longer hours. This service ceased on Tuesday, April 13.
The new opening hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 8am – 1.30pm and 2.30 -5pm; Wednesday and Saturday: 8am – 1.30pm.
This is an extra 35 hours of Post Office service a week than previously offered.
Carol Williams, Post Office network provision lead, said: “We are delighted to have a permanent solution for Llangernyw as we know how important Post Office services are to a community.
"The much longer opening hours will make it far more convenient for customers to visit. We thank the Postmasters for Maesgeirchen and Betws Yn Rhos for helping to provide Post Office services in the interim."
