DOZENS of people have reportedly missed their Covid vaccine appointment after being informed of it after the scheduled date.

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board says it "acknowledges" the error in the delivery of a "small batch" of appointment letters.

A Wrexham resident, wishing to remain anonymous, told the Leader he received his appointment letter two days after his scheduled appointment.

The 58-year-old said: "I got my letter on April 3 for an appointment which was on April 1.

"I took to social media to ask if anyone else had experienced anything similar and was inundated with responses from people who had had the same thing happen to them.

"There must have been about 40 people in total who said their appointment letter came too late for them to attend theirs. One guy said his letter came the day of his appointment and he was on Anglesey - with his wife calling him to tell him that he had a couple of hours to get back for it.

"People need to be given a minimum of two days notice so they can plan around work and other commitments."

He added: "It's clear that the NHS is not being coordinated between admin and vaccines centres and many appointments are being missed - throwing vaccine centres into chaos."

Gill Harris, executive director of nursing and midwifery at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, said: “We acknowledge there was a problem with the delivery of a small batch of appointment letters at the end of March 2021.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and urge anyone impacted to contact our booking centre on 03000 840004 to rearrange their appointment.”
