IMPROVEMENTS are being carried out at a number of play areas in Denbighshire.

Work has been completed at Vaughan Street, Rhyl, and is ongoing at Central Beach, Prestatyn. Work will begin at Marine Lake in Rhyl next week.

A spokesperson from Denbighshire County Council said the works at Central Beach would take 14 days.

"It is having a new surface installed," they added.

"The work is being undertaken to ensure it is completed ahead of the summer season and was facilitated by grant funding which also dictated the timeframe.

"The improvements relate to the installation of new safety play surfaces at these sites."

Some parents voiced upset that works are taking place after lockdown restrictions have eased.

One resident said: "Surely it could have been done weeks ago."
