THE castle used for I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! turned a striking shade of green to mark St Patrick’s Day 2021.

Gwrych Castle, near Abergele, was one of 690 landmarks taking part in Tourism Ireland’s Global Greening initiative.

A total of 66 countries took part. This is the first time Gwrych Castle has joined the line up.

Portmeirion Village in Gwynedd was another new addition.

Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said: “This year marks the 12th year of Tourism Ireland’s Global Greening initiative and it’s the biggest ever, with some wonderful new additions like The Palm Fountain in Dubai – the largest fountain in the world.

"Other new sites include the village of Portmeirion in North Wales and Bled Castle in Slovenia. Each year, I am delighted to see so many iconic landmarks and sites wishing to get involved, to mark St Patrick’s Day."
