POLICE officers equipped with a shield were called to catch a group of dogs that were “running loose” in Prestatyn.
North Wales Police was called to the incident involving three Tibetan mastiffs near the Ffrith pub on Overton Avenue at about 10.30am on Wednesday, March 10.
Resident Kathryn Worsencroft said the dogs could be heard “barking loudly and aggressively” as officers attempted to bring them under control.
“[The dogs] escaped from their Prestatyn home and caused chaos in behind the pub,” she said.
“Seven police officers were at the scene with one holding a riot shield.
“Officers brought traffic to a standstill whilst trying to catch both dogs. We were worried they were going to get run over.”
Denbighshire County Council said one of its officers attended the incident.
A council spokesperson said: “A dog warden was in the locality at the time police were in attendance and offered assistance.”
Police tweeted on the Prestatyn NWP page: “Three large dogs which were running loose in the Overton Avenue area of Prestatyn this morning have now been located.
“We'd like to thank the public for their assistance.”
