THE ENDLESS imagination of children across the UK is being celebrated in a literary competition led by a coastal company.
Lyons Holiday Parks, in Rhyl, launched their Living Dreams competition on World Book Day (March 4). The winner will get to witness the stories in their heads become reality, in a surprise format gifted by the marketing team.
The winning child’s words will also entitle the whole family to a hot tub holiday at Lyons Robin Hood in Rhyl.
Beth Hughes, Living Dreams leader, said: "As a family-run business, we’re all about supporting families, and after the year we’ve all had, we wanted to bring some magic to people’s lives. The Living Dreams competition incentivises children on an educational level, and also provides a relaxing break for a deserving family.”
The initiative aims to encourage reading, but also “give the youth of today something to smile – and write – about.”
The group are also keen to promote the Welsh language, and Welsh-medium submissions are welcome.
A topic has been published on the company's homepage. Entrants, of any age up to 18, can enter but the story must be inspired by the topic.
Children can submit a short story, a vlog or a cartoon strip.
The deadline is April 9. The winner will be revealed on Monday, April 19.
