FUNDING is on the table for Conwy and Denbighshire heritage projects that boost local economies.

The National Lottery has reopened applications for its heritage grants from £3,000 up to £5million to help projects that contribute to the recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.

This includes projects that encourage and sustain jobs and opportunities, support wellbeing and ensure heritage plays a part in creating better places to live, work and visit.

“Heritage has an essential role to play in making communities better places to live, creating economic prosperity and supporting personal wellbeing," said Ros Kerslake, CEO of The National Lottery Heritage Fund. "All of these are going to be vitally important as we build back from the pandemic.

“Our focus now is to support the heritage sector to strengthen its recovery and to build back for positive change.”

The pandemic has had a significant hit to the heritage sector as lockdown restrictions prohibited visitors.

Darren Millar, MS for Clwyd West, said: “As the pandemic continues to impact so many aspects of our lives, the National Lottery wants to fund projects that demonstrate the value of heritage to our national life and which support local economies, places and communities.

“They are committed to ensuring that this spirit will continue through 2021 to support and drive longer-term recovery and I therefore urge heritage organisations in North Wales who fit the criteria for funding to apply.”
