FANS may have spotted a former I’m a Celebrity campmate has returned to North Wales.

In a short video posted to his social media, classical singer Russell Watson showed fans he had returned to Gwrych Castle - which he briefly called home last year - and popped down to Kiosk Cledwyn’s shop – only to find it closed.

Speaking to the camera, the former campmate was suitably dressed for the freezing temperatures as he teased of potential ‘news’ coming soon about ‘something very special’ happening at the castle.

Russell, 54, was part of the ITV show’s twentieth series in November – which relocated from its usual sunny setting of New South Wales in Australia for a colder North Wales castle due to the coronavirus.

He entered camp with stage star Ruth Henshall and endured a series of trials along the way until he was eliminated alongside EastEnders actress Jessica Plummer.

Just weeks ago, he told TVs Stephanie McGovern, on Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch, that he has been asked to perform at the Abergele-based castle.

The Journal reported that, if restrictions allow, the tenor said he hopes to carry out a concert performance late summer.

On the show, he said: “We might be going back to the castle which is great news.

“They contacted me about a week ago and said we’ve had an idea about you maybe doing a concert performance here in the late summer with the castle as the backdrop.

“Obviously if it is safe by then it is something we are looking at doing.”
