A SPA that opened prior to the pandemic and hosted the I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! contestants after they left the castle has marked its one year anniversary.

The 'Spa at Carden', based at the Carden Park Hotel in Cheshire, open on January 6 2020.

The stars from the 20th series - which featured AJ Pritchard, Sir Mo Farah, Shane Richie, Jessica Plummer, Victoria Derbyshire, Vernon Kay, Beverley Callard, Giovanna Fletcher, Hollie Arnold, Jordan North, Russell Watson and Ruthie Henshall - stayed at the hotel after being evicted from the castle.

Celebrities enjoyed wine straight from the hotel’s vineyard and outdoor bathing with the facilities of the newly opened hotel spa.

Emma Pridding, Leisure and Spa manager, said: "Despite the challenges, this year has been an incredible first year and credit must go to the entire team for their resilience and positivity.

"This year has also been a very exciting one with our celebrity guests and being home to ITV’s I’m a Celebrity contestants was a fantastic experience.

"We are hoping that our second year will see the end to Covid-19 and that we will see our spa able to reopen soon and welcome our guests”.

I'm A Celeb was held at Gwrych Castle, Abergele in November / December 2020.

Giovanna was crowned the first Queen of the Castle. The final was watched by 10million.

The spa has 50 staff. Despite having to shut for many months due to Covid, it scooped the prestigious award of ‘Best new Spa’ in the 2020 Good Spa Guide Awards and received an inaugural ‘Five Bubble Luxury Rating’, joining only 15 other spas in the UK.
