DOG biscuits thought to be “contaminated” have been left on a field in Prestatyn.

North Wales Police have been made aware of suspected contaminated dog biscuits being left on the grass at Ffrith Beach Festival Gardens, Prestatyn.

A warning has gone out to pet owners to be vigilant.

An RSPCA Cymru spokesperson said: “The RSPCA is really alarmed to hear reports of suspected contaminated dog biscuits being left in the Prestatyn area. It’s shocking to think anyone would seek to target innocent dogs in this way.

“We’d urge anyone with information to respond to North Wales Police, while the RSPCA’s emergency line can also be reached on 0300 1234 999.

“It is every owner’s nightmare for their pet to be poisoned - and we’d urge dog owners walking their pets in this local area to be vigilant.

“Make sure you’re prepared for such an emergency.

“If you suspect your pet has been poisoned, act fast and contact a vet for advice immediately.”

Residents took to the Journal's Facebook to voice their shock.

Pauline Hodges said: "Wicked what people will do."

David Cooper said: "I don't know what is wrong with some people anymore."

Anyone who suspects their dog has been poisoned, visit the RSPCA website for advice.
